The Viennese Open Oriental Studies publishes studies in the field of ancient oriental studies (ancient oriental philology, religious, legal, economic and social history as well as Near Eastern archeology and art history) as well as oriental studies in general. The catchment areas are primarily Mesopotamia and Northern Syria; secondary also the entire Middle East. The period extends from the 4th millennium BC. BC to the present day.
