Karum - Emporion - Forum (KEF). Contributions to the economic, legal and social history of the eastern Mediterranean and ancient Asia.
Angelika Lohwasser, Hans Neumann, Kai Ruffing (ed.)
Social history of the eastern Mediterranean and ancient Asia. Kārum, Emporion and Forum denote in Babylonian-Assyrian, Greek and Latin u. a. the trading center, which due to its function was a meeting point for different cultures and people with different social status and from different legal circles. Last but not least, with a view to current problems, research in the areas of Greek and Roman as well as ancient Asia and Egyptian cultures is increasingly turning its attention to the contact of these cultures with one another and also with their economic history. The treatment of questions of economic history consequently also implies social and legal historical problems, since economy, society and law are to be regarded as parts of a mutually dependent complex structure. In addition, the examples of interdisciplinary cooperation in these areas are increasing in research and clearly demonstrate the advantages of such. The new KEF series should offer a platform for this cooperation. We welcome manuscripts in monographic form as well as anthologies from all disciplines that deal with the economic, legal and social history of the eastern Mediterranean, ancient Asia Minor and Egypt from the 3rd millennium BC. BC until the Arab conquest in the 7th century AD.
